- Terrain: Quiet backroads with some options to cycle on dirt tracks and easy trails. There are on hard hills and rolling countryside on this tour so a reasonable basic level of fitness is recommended. Gravel, hybrid or an MTB are recommended.

Come to Cuba on cycling holiday over the Christmas holidays. A fully supported tour with guide, mechanic and a following bus. It is well known that planning is the key to success and the sooner we make plans, the better.
This is not about starting Christmas early. This is about planning to give ourselves the best possible start to a Magical Christmas. So let’s start making plans together, setting up a group of like-minded people looking for a relaxed Mountain Bike Adventure in the east of Cuba.
This is Cuba in the raw. We will bring you to eastern Cuba: Holguin province, and the city of Las Tunas. We have strong ties to the local youth cycling club ( EIDE), which Bicycle Breeze and CanBiCuba have supported for many years.This tour is conducted mostly on dirt back roads and visits a number of out of the way beaches that are not on the tourist trail.
This is not extreme MTB cycling, only moderate off road skills are required. Old broken roads and some dirt trails are our preferred paths. Both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be spent in Gibara.

Arrival Friday December 23rd.
Arrive at Holguin airport and go to Arsenita hotel to set up bikes.
– Cycling: 0km.
– Accommodation: Hotel Arsenita.
– Meals Included: Dinner/ Breakfast.

Saturday December 24th.
Ride to Playa Caletones . There you can enjoy the beach and visit a natural swimming pool, called Poza Bella. You will find mostly dirt roads. Lunch available at the beach. Ride back to the hotel. You can bus back if the beach is hard to leave.

- Accommodation: Hotel Arsenita.
- Meals Included: Christmas Eve dinner “Noche Buena”/Breakfast.

Sunday December 25th.
After breakfast, ride to Bariay, one of the two places claiming that Christopher Columbus landed for first time on the island. We will have lunch there, at Colombo Restaurant, and then visit Bariay, Monument National Park, and ride back to hotel.
– Cycling: 40km.
– Accommodation: Hotel Arsenita.
– Meals Included: Lunch/Dinner/Breakfast.

Monday December 26th.
Ride to Playa Herradura. Stop for lunch at Escaleras al Cielo in Velasco.
– Cycling: 55km.
– Accommodation: Casa particular in Playa Herradura.
– Meals Included: Dinner/Breakfast

Tuesday December 27th.
After breakfast, ride to Puerto Padre, via ferry. We are leaving Holguin province behind, and will ride to Las Tunas province.
– Cycling: 30km, flat.
-Accommodation: Casa particular in Puerto Padre.
– Meals Included: Dinner/Breakfast.

Wednesday December 28th.
After breakfast meet together and then ride to Las Tunas. On the way, we will meet the children of the Las Tunas sport school, and will ride with them into the city.
– Cycling: 50km, flat road.
– Accommodation: Casa particular in Las Tunas.
– Meals Included: Dinner/Breakfast.

Thursday December 29th.
After breakfast we will be ready to ride to Holguín or you can take the tour bus.
– Cycling: 77km.
– Accommodation: Hotel El Bosque.
– Meals Included: Dinner/Breakfast.

Friday December 30th.
The tour bus will bring you to the Holguin airport for your departure from Cuba.
– Cycling: No.
– Meals Included: Breakfast.
Cycle Rental
Bicycle Breeze has bike rentals at great prices. For this tour you will need either a gravel, hybrid or an MTB. Should you prefer to bring your own that is fine with us, you will get the same mechanical assistance as the renters.
Check your travel company for costs of shipping your bike. Depending on your country of embarkation you may be better to rent. Renting has other positive aspects. Your bike will not get lost in transit. It is far easier to travel without a bike box and spare bikes are on the bus for renters. The negative side is that this is not your favourite ride.
